Job Summary
This exciting role will be vital to expanding Neurocare retail activities. To develop relationships within the Hospital and to expand Neurocare Trading into retail shops and develop trading along side Neurocare Charity. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chief Executive to implement new plans and manage change.

Wages: £16,000 pro rata

Neurocare is a groundbreaking local charity, which raises money for the Neuro Department at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield.
Neurocare buys equipment to save and improve the lives of patients with a range of debilitating neurological conditions, including brain tumours, strokes, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, Motor Neurone Disease and Epilepsy.
Neurocare Trading is the retail arm of Neurocare and has two part time staff members and also about 10 volunteers.
Job Summary
This exciting role will be vital to expanding Neurocare retail activities. To develop relationships within the Hospital and to expand Neurocare Trading into retail shops and develop trading along side Neurocare Charity. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chief Executive to implement new plans and manage change. This will include:
• To Implement and maintain stock control systems.
• To ensure all staff and volunteers abide by health and safety procedures.
• To recruit, train and nurture volunteers.
• To manage the shop and ensure that sales are maximised.
• To implement and monitor improved financial procedures.
• Working with the CE and directors to expand Neurocare trading outside the hospital environment into retail shops and through Neurocare Charity.
• To manage and support paid staff, this includes training needs and ensuring that ongoing training is provided.
• To sell retail goods on the wards and to increase awareness and build relations with staff and patients on those wards.
• To promote other Neurocare activities.
Person Profile
We need a positive, energetic, caring, and enthusiastic person to join our small friendly team. Retail experience is essential. Excellent communication skills – both oral and written are essential too. You should be confident, proactive, outgoing and capable of working on your own but also able to operate as part of a team.
Responsibilities
(a) Staff and Volunteer Manager
To manage retail staff and volunteers and ensure they are trained for their specific areas. To ensure they are supported and valued. To implement regular meetings. You will be the main contact between Neurocare Trading and Neurocare Charity. Experience in conflict resolution is essential.
(b) Stock Room and Stock Control
Implementation of stock control. To work with individual team members to buy stock and to receive deliveries. To manage the stock room. Please note there will be lifting of boxes and books within health and safety guidelines involved in this role. To ensure Health and safety is adhered to.
(c) Management of Shop
To manage the day to day running of the shop which opens every Monday and Wednesday. To ensure that stock is tidy and presentable. To work in partnership with the League of Friends to ensure that partnership continues to work. To ensure the shop is manned with volunteers at all times
(d) Implementation of financial controls
To work closely with retail staff and the Chief Executive to ensure all financial procedures are adhered to.
(e) Ward Development
To take stock onto the wards and develop the retail sales in that area. To build relations with patients, staff and carers to promote Neurocare wider activities and to raise awareness of our work
.
(g) Communications
To work closely with the Chief Executive to implement and closely manage change and developments within the trading arm. To ensure a close working relationship between Trading and the Charity. To ensure all internal communication routes are open.
(h) Trading Expansion
To work closely with the Chief Executive to implement long term visions for the charity. To look at ways to expand Neurocare Trading beyond the Hospital into retail outlets.
