Dusty has stars in her eyes at Sheffield singing fundraiser
Sheffield singing sensation Jade Hewitt has won a prestigious city singing contest, helping to raise more than £10,000 for charity in the process.
Jade, from Intake, Sheffield beat off competition from nine other finalists from Adam Ant to Frank Sinatra in the grand final of Neurocare’s ‘Search for a Star’ competition, sponsored by HL Interactive Solicitors.
The 21-year-old impersonated singing legend Dusty Springfield with the song ‘You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me’ in the final at Sheffield United’s Platinum Suite.
Jade, who was sponsored to compete by TDC, has won a day as a star. The day will include health and beauty treatments at Spa 1877 and recording time at Red Tape Studios.
Jade said: “I’m so shocked to have won! The final was really close and I had no idea I would even come lose to winning it.
“I have sung since I was young and have taken part in lots of competitions, including Pop Idol and shows at Sheffield city hall, but it was great to be able to do something for a fantastic local charity like Neurocare.”
Neurocare fundraising director Lesley Eland said: “Well done to Jade and a huge thank you to all the businesses and contestants who helped make this event such a success. More than 150 guests and supporters turned out on the night and we raised lots more money for the neurosciences department at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield.”
Neurocare is one of Sheffield’s leading health charities. It funds equipment which benefits patients in the Neurosciences Department at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
