Emma is Neurocare’s new girl with big plans. Emma started working at Neurocare in August 2009 as a fundraiser. After a career that started in floristry and event management, Emma felt it was time to put her skills to good use for a charity. Check out the event page on the website for all of her exciting, thrilling and challenging events. Read more

Emma is Sheffield born and bred and is passionate about making our Neurosciences department the best in the country!

She is a total control freak (as boyfriend Paul will tell you) and she can’t sit down until the job’s done. When she finally relaxes she likes nothing better than going to her Mum and Dad’s for some good old West Indian home cooking, or sitting in with Ben and Jerry’s Phish Food watching Dirty Dancing!

She says: Starting work at Neurocare has restored my faith in people. I am consistently humbled by people’s generosity and kindness and there overall willingness to support the charity as it ‘changes and saves lives.’

They say: Emma has been a breath of fresh air to Neurocare. She is enthusiastic, energetic and fun. She is a perfect fit to our team and promises great things for our future fundraising events

Secret fact: I was once denied entry into a nightclub for not having any I.D, so I quickly put on an American accent and said “don’t you know who I am?” to a baffled bouncer. I went on to tell them that I was Morgan Freeman’s daughter and it really wouldn’t look good on them if I didn’t get in! Needless to say, I got in, and had free drinks all night!

Rebecca works in the Neurocare office as the team administrator. Lesley and Emma would call her the backbone of the charity whilst Rebecca refers to herself as ‘general dogsbody’!! Like the others Rebecca’s role is varied; one day she can be typing thank you letters and sending out application packs, the next she will be helping 20 people through a muddy 10 mile assault course. Rebecca moved across the pennies from Stockport to Sheffield in 2006 to live with her partner, Paul. She has 1 son and a mad as a hatter dog. Rebecca loves quizzes, spending quality time with her friends and family and a tall icy G&T

She says: Working for Neurocare is without a doubt the most fulfilling job I have ever had. Our supporters are so loyal and the strength of character of our patients and their families and friends is awe-inspiring.

They say: Rebecca is our guiding hand; chaos would ensue very quickly without her. She is a dynamo who will deliver often without been asked. We really don’t know what we would do without her!! Oh by the way Rebecca where is the ………………is often heard across the office.

Secret fact: I was once trapped in a hotel for 2 hours with the Chippendales with hordes of girls desperate to get in and me desperate to get out.

Lesley has 10 years experience working within the charity sector. For the last 4 years Lesley has been Fundraising Director, her role included launching and delivering the Brainwave Appeal for £500,000, included organising events such as the annual Hallamshire Golf day, fire-walking and ‘Stars in their Eyes’. Her role at Neurocare is varied; alongside the trustees she is responsible for the day to day management and long term strategy of Neurocare. She is also very hands on, from generating trust fundraising, corporate fundraising and organising charity events, to speaking publicly about what the charity is about. Lesley works tirelessly to increase Neurocare’s profile within South Yorkshire and beyond. Read more

Lesley moved to the steel city at the age of 11, and now lives in Dore. She has a son and a daughter. Lesley enjoys going to the gym to unwind, the odd glass of wine and good food and company.

She says: I have the best job in the world, working with the most inspirational people in the world! This is an area that receives so little outside funding, the statistics are quite frightening and I would like to make a difference. Neurocare is the only charity doing what we are doing in the country, so we are trail blazing. How fabulous is that!

They say: Lesley is a whirlwind to be around. She is loud, fun, vibrant and passionate about Neurocare. It’s never a quiet day when Lesley is in!!

Secret fact: I was a plane spotter and a stamp collector between the ages of 5 and 10 years old!
